  27 The <a href="http://the-u-web.org/">U-Web</a> is an ambitious project to create an open
  28 distributed platform for seamlessly and intuitively sharing, integrating and updating
  29 people, identities and profiles and their right-here, right-now mobile stuff:

  31 People in phonebooks and on Facebook. Stuff like photos off the mobile camera and photos
  32 on Flickr; personal messages, public Twitter updates; meetup times and map locations.
  33 Identities, videos, reviews, comments, news, statuses, calendars and current map
  34 location.

  36 Merged and tracked as they change, for all participants in the U-Web. The U-Web will
  37 magically shuffle and combine all this dynamic, interactive data around for you,
  38 according to the permissions you set.

  40 A U-Web mobile application will merge these on- and off-device people, media, times
  41 and places in a single, seamless interface - with one map and one calendar.

  47 <h3>The U-Web and the World Wide Web</h3>

  49 The U-Web has parallels (and considerable compatibility) with the Web:

  51 Like the Web, the U-Web has an open protocol and notation, meaning that all the above
  52 functionality can be implemented by many separate groups of developers - no-one will own
  53 the U-Web - or have to do all the work themselves! It will allow anyone to join in and
  54 offer interactive content - an unlimited ecosystem of mashups. The protocol and notation
  55 are for peer-to-peer multicast data rather than the Web's client-server documents.

  57 The U-Web application is like a browser, except it's a two-way interactive and dynamic
  58 data viewer meant for mashups and having both 2D and 3D as a native render. It will have
  59 a tactile, intuitive interface optimised for people, media, times and places. In the
  60 U-Web, you, as a user of this application, are a first class entity, visible to others.
  61 The application will have access to all your machine capabilities such as PIM data,
  62 Media, GPS coordinates, accelerometer, vibration, telephony and camera.
